Licensing Act Policy Feedback 2026 (Premises and Events)

A public consultation is being held to allow residents and businesses to comment on the Council’s draft Licensing Act relevant to premises and events.

Cherwell District Council is the Licensing Authority under the provisions of the Licensing Act 2003 (the ‘Act’). As such it is responsible for the administration and enforcement of Premises Licenses, Club Premises Certificates, Personal Licenses and Temporary Event Notices.

Under the Act the Council must prepare a written Statement of Licensing Policy, which sets out how we will carry out our licensing functions with a view to promoting the licensing objectives.

The Act requires the Council to review their Statement of Licensing Policy every five years, with the last review of Cherwell District Council’s policy taking place in 2021.
